The very elaborate ribbing of this fan is made of bone,
nicely pierced and carved, decorated and lacquered by
hand. The double cotton leaf features, on the recto, a
beautiful painting representing a pastoral scene, and on
the verso, a complementary painting representing a
landscape with a tree (not shown here). The size of the
unfold fan is about 46 by 24.5 cm (18 by 9
½ inches), and when closed
it is 24.5 cm (9 ½ inches)
long.
