This fan features an impressive ribbing made of ivory,
beautifully carved and pierced by hand. The double, hand-painted cotton leaf
features, on the recto, a painting representing a
pastoral scene. On the verso, a complementary painting
represents a landscape with a village (not shown here). The size of the
unfold fan is about 51 by 27 cm (20 by 10
¾ inches),
and when closed it is 27 cm (10 ¾ inches) long.
